I quit Nanowrimo due to lack of time, but I managed to translate up to chapter 3 so it's all good.

Unfortunately my laptop screen finally died on me and I can't get most of my files back unless I unscrew the HDD and plug it into some external HDD somehow. However, the good news is that I've got the most important files backed up on Dropbox~ Including the fics and translation. So yeah, learn to use proper back up otherwise you're screwed when something like this happens. :-|

Anyway, I bought a brand new laptop for a nice deal, but I still need to write two assignments and a paper before the 30th of November. The full first chapter of Nightmare Dwelling will have to wait until then.

I am stranded somewhere in the middle of chapter 3. Didn't manage to translate a lot due to physical issues, so I'm way behind on the word count.

One thing I do know is that I need to do some heavy proof reading. Of course. What a mess.

It seems I have underestimated a few things:

- the homework load for November is too big.
- commuting between hometown + uni is too long
- while not difficult, translating from Eng > JP is takes way too much time.

Since I have to give priority to Uni, because I do really need to graduate this year... I'll make this year's Nanowrimo the translation of Nightmare Dwelling! I suppose this makes me a Nano Rebel.

While I am translating Nightmare Dwelling from Japanese to English, I'll also be doing a full revision of an old Mononoke/Ghost Hunt fanfic by translating it into Japanese. The outcome will be strange, but I hope it will capture the Japanese part of the story more. ...probably to let it sound more authentic, if you know what I mean. I don't know if I'll ever release the Japanese version, which will be called δΊŒι€šγ‚Š (Futatoori), but the quality will certainly be questionable.

I don't know how I'll cope with this. I will probably hate myself, but it will probably be worth for the practice and better understanding of the story. After this is all done, I will have to translate it back into English again. How's that for self-made suffering? It will be done in romaji, because Nanowrimo word count checker is not very nice to the Japanese language.

Anyway, still a few hours left and tons of homework to do. Argh.

It looks like I'll be using this journal for Nanowrimo ranting...
